Traditional Meatloaf

This traditional meatloaf is the perfect weekend meal for when you have a bit more time to spend in the kitchen. The slow baking method ensures a juicy and flavorful result that will have everyone reaching for seconds. Great for a cozy family dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, tomato paste, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing down firmly to shape it evenly.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and brown sugar, then spread it evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite summer vegetables.
