Traditional Meatloaf
This traditional meatloaf is the perfect weekend meal for when you have a bit more time to spend in the kitchen. The slow baking method ensures a juicy and flavorful result that will have everyone reaching for seconds. Great for a cozy family dinner!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, tomato paste, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing down firmly to shape it evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and brown sugar, then spread it evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite summer vegetables.
