Slow-Baked Homestyle Meatloaf

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup ketchup, for glaze

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 5 minutes until absorbed.
  3. Add ground beef, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper, and thyme to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix gently until combined.
  4. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and shape it into a loaf.
  5. Spread the extra ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf for the glaze.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
