Slow-Baked Homestyle Meatloaf

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 cup ketchup, for glaze
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk. Let sit for 5 minutes until absorbed.
- Add ground beef, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, pepper, and thyme to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix gently until combined.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and shape it into a loaf.
- Spread the extra ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf for the glaze.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
