Simple Weeknight Burgers
This recipe makes delicious, juicy burgers that are perfect for a summer weekend cookout. They are simple enough for a weeknight meal but have a slow-baked quality that elevates the flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef, 80% lean
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to combine.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
- Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and top each with a slice of cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.
- Toast the hamburger buns in the oven for 2-3 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with tomato slices, lettuce leaves, and the top bun.
