Oven-Baked Barbecue Baby Back Ribs

Ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs, approximately 4 pounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor penetration.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Rub the ribs with olive oil, then generously coat them with the spice mixture on both sides.
  5. Place the ribs on the prepared baking sheet, bone side down, and cover the ribs with another piece of foil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.
  7. Remove the top foil and brush the ribs with barbecue sauce.
  8. Increase the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, basting with more barbecue sauce halfway through.
  9. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
