  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and orange blossom water until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
