Loaded Grilled Cheese Melt
Turn a simple grilled cheese into a loaded, satisfying meal. Perfect for any time of the year and made in just one pan, this recipe is both indulgent and convenient.
Ingredients
- 8 slices gluten-free bread
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
- Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Top each with a layer of cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, sliced tomatoes, and caramelized onions.
- Season with flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, then carefully flip the sandwiches.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before slicing in half and serving.
