Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, 80% lean
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices cheese of choice

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to ensure even cooking.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Serve each patty on a lettuce leaf with tomato slices and any additional toppings of choice.
