Easy Apple Pie
This small-batch apple pie is perfect for a cozy night in. It's simple to make and highlights the natural sweetness of apples, providing a delightful end to any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 to 4 tablespoons ice water
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Method
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough begins to form.
- Roll the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon flour. Set aside.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a 9-inch circle. Place the dough in a 6-inch pie dish.
- Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture. Trim and crimp the edges of the dough as desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
