- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with 12 liners.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
- Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the buttercream, beat the powdered sugar and butter together until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and milk, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Once cupcakes are completely cool, frost with buttercream and serve.
