Classic Loaded Grilled Cheese

This classic loaded grilled cheese is the ultimate comfort food, packed with melted cheese and flavorful vegetables. Perfect for a cozy family dinner on a cold winter evening.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick whole grain bread
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.
  4. Evenly distribute the grated cheese over the slices of bread.
  5. Layer the onion slices, tomato slices, and spinach on top of the cheese.
  6. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  8. Cook sandwiches for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
