Classic Apple Pie
A timeless dessert that's perfect for any occasion. This classic apple pie is easy to make and brings a comforting, nostalgic flavor to your table.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
- 6 to 8 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Method
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Divide dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll one dough disc out to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place it in the pie plate and trim the edges.
- In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Pour into prepared crust.
- Roll out the second dough disc and place over the filling. Seal and flute the edges. Cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35 to 45 minutes more, until apples are soft and crust is golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
