These barbecue baby back ribs are perfect for a springtime meal, offering tender meat and a rich, smoky flavor. This recipe will guide you through achieving melt-in-your-mouth ribs using a homemade BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and rub the spice mixture evenly over both racks of ribs.
  4. Wrap the ribs tightly in foil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
  6. While the ribs are baking, prepare the BBQ sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. After baking, remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them. Increase oven temperature to 450°F (230°C).
  8. Brush the ribs with the homemade BBQ sauce. Return them to the oven, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce caramelizes.
  9. Remove ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before cutting and serving. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt to taste before serving.
