These barbecue baby back ribs are perfect for a springtime meal, offering tender meat and a rich, smoky flavor. This recipe will guide you through achieving melt-in-your-mouth ribs using a homemade BBQ sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Flaky sea salt, to taste
Method
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and rub the spice mixture evenly over both racks of ribs.
- Wrap the ribs tightly in foil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
- While the ribs are baking, prepare the BBQ sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After baking, remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them. Increase oven temperature to 450°F (230°C).
- Brush the ribs with the homemade BBQ sauce. Return them to the oven, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce caramelizes.
- Remove ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before cutting and serving. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt to taste before serving.
